Q:Are the Woodrite timber side hinged doors better than other timber doors?

In short, yes they were, however Woodrite no longer are trading as a manufacturer which was a loss to the industry some years ago.

The Garage Door Centre can offer most of the timber garage door designs now in a wider range of hardwood timbers and the tradtional cedarwood.

Woodrite Doors

For the basic cedar range offered the timber quality and the finishing was as good as you can get with timber, with all sections pretreated before the door was constructed, for the very best protection long term. Woodrite timber doors set out years ago to produce the very best in timber garage doors for both side hinged and up and over ranges and all the skilled staff involved were involved in timber door manufacturing for many years. The Woodrite side hinged doors were manufactured from either Cedar or Idigbo timber as standard and selected from the very best grades available. The doors were manufactured in traditional joinery methods and were supplied with all necessary hardware and locking as standard from a choice of styles.

The recommendation is to always have a factory finish on any timber extenal door in one of the many colour options. As standard the doors were supplied in a base coat stain for further finishing on site. The level of details were what set Woodrite doors apart from others with finer details in the mouldings of the door making all the difference as well as perfectly matched timber sub frames constructed by cladding either a softwood or hardwood timber frame section in cedar to ensure once treated the match is perfect. Standard timber sub frames cannot be made from cedar and are normally redwood or red meranti which do not stain to the same colour a cedar unless completely black.
