Q:How secure is a sectional garage door?

An insulated, double skinned, sectional door has incredible strength just from the double skinned steel panels used. They are usually between 40 and 67mm thick with a foam core centre to bond the twin galvanised steel outer layers together, forming a very strong, highly insulated panel. The operating mechanism incorporates multiple roller wheels either side of the door panels and these run in a C channel arrangement which means the wheels cannot leave the channels. Add some rubber seals all around the perimeter and when this sectional type door is closed it is solid, with almost zero movement when pushed against.

How do they lock you might ask?  Manual doors have a large rotary latch or spring latch mechanism to one side and the best models use eurocylinder profile locking to ensure better secruity. However most sectional doors are electrically operated because it is easy to add automation. When you have electric operation you do not need an external handle or locking and the locking is done by the operator mechanism internally, primarily by holding the door firmly down with the steel towing arm of the motor drive, but many higher end electric motors use various patented systems to further enhance the security...

The sectional garage door is one of the best garage doors for security, expecially against forced attempts..
